Privacy Policy

The Human Rights for NSW Alliance understands the importance of your privacy and is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. While the Privacy Act does not apply to us, we aim for best practice in relation to any personal information we are given.

Collecting your personal information

We may need to collect your personal information so that we can perform our functions and activities. This may include keeping you informed about progress towards a Human Rights Act in Queensland or giving updates about our activities and events.

The type of personal information we collect will depend on how you interact with us.  You have the option to interact with us anonymously or using a name other than your own (a "pseudonym"). However, we may not be able to properly respond to you if we do not have enough information about your identity.

Using and disclosing your personal information

We may use and disclose your personal information as part of performing our activities. We may also disclose your personal information to other parties if you have expressly or impliedly consented to that use or disclosure, or if it is required under Australian law.

To the extent possible, we will not disclose your personal information and will keep it in confidence.

Storing and securing your personal information

Your personal information is treated as highly confidential and is stored electronically or in hard copy files. We may use third party service providers to store and process some personal information.

We take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is protected from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure and will require any third party service providers to apply those standards.

Your right to access your personal information

You have a right to request access to your personal information. You are also able to have your personal information corrected, and to unsubscribe from our mailing list or from any of our services at any time.

Keeping your information up-to-date

We try to ensure that the personal information we hold about you is accurate, complete, relevant and up-to-date. Please help us to do this by letting us know if your details change or if we send you an email or letter than contains incorrect details.
